Using AI-Generated images for your print design

  1. YES! John Brailsford Printers will accept your AI-generated designs for printing!

This wonderful new technology is great for creating eye-catching layouts. While we cannot help you write your AI prompts or create the AI-generated design itself, we can suggest options for getting the best possible printing results.

Most AI generators do a good job of creating the content and imagery you are looking for, but they don't design specifically for professional printing. Most of the time, AI images are only high enough quality to view on a screen or use on social media.

We love to see our customers' creativity using AI, but we always suggest using a professional, easy-to-use design program like Canva as an alternative. See here for Canva hints and tips. We can also hand your project over to our in-house studio team to create a design from scratch in the traditional way. See here for our artwork and design service pricing.

If you want to use AI for printing, you need to add specific parameters into your text prompt to make sure the output is compatible with production. Remember, AI is a developing technology, and different generators handle requests in their own way.

The basic information you always need to enter is:

The scripts below includes our preferred print options. Try using this as a template, keeping in mind that not every AI generator will follow these instructions perfectly.

    Our £10 Artwork Upscaling Service
You can send us your files for a quality check. For a fixed rate of £10.00, we can upscale your imagery and graphics to a higher resolution. We run your file through our specialized Artworker Program or Adobe Photoshop image-enhancing technology to give you a sharper, crisper result. Please note that exact colour matching or branding colours cannot be guaranteed through this automated enhancement process.

You are the final proof reader!
It is always your responsibility to make sure the file you send for printing is correct. Double-check your logo, telephone numbers, QR codes, and dates. AI has a quirky habit of hallucinating or flipping fine details from generation to generation. What you send us is exactly what we will print!

Got a question? Call us we will be happy to advise you.

COPY & PASTE SUGGESTED SCRIPTS BELOW — Amend these to suit your actual requirements

design me a business card using the logo and colourways from my website page www.brailsfordprinters.com

Add text: "Presented by John Brailsford"

Add a placeholder for a QR code linking to my Facebook page

    Use these strict printing requirements:

    • Size: Regular UK Business Card size (85mm x 55mm)

    • Orientation: [Specify: Landscape or Portrait]

    • Layout: [Specify] Design to be printed on both sides

    • Quality: Crisp, high-resolution details suitable for 300dpi print formatting

    • Safe Zone: Keep all text and fine details 5mm away from the edges to avoid being cut off

    • Bleed: Add a 3mm image bleed on every edge so there are no raw white edges after cutting

    • Output: Show me print-ready artwork with cutting marks and extended image bleed

SUGGESTED SCRIPT FOR AI-GENERATORS THAT DON’T SUPPORT SIZING

Act as a professional graphic designer. Design a clean, modern business card layout using the visual branding, colorways, and logo style found on www.brailsfordprinters.com

    Card details to include visually:

    • Add clear, legible text: "Presented by John Brailsford"

    • Include a clean, square placeholder frame for a Facebook QR code. Do not attempt to generate a real QR code, just leave a clean square spot for it.

    Strict Printing & Layout Constraints:

    • Aspect Ratio: Generate the image in a horizontal/landscape 3:2 aspect ratio to match standard UK business cards (85mm x 55mm).

    • Composition: Keep all text and critical graphic details away from the edge of the card. Leave a wide, generous margin of solid background color around all four outer edges. This acts as a safe zone and bleed area so the edges can be cleanly trimmed by my printer without cutting off text.

    • Text Rendering: Ensure all English words are spelled perfectly. Do not add random background symbols or gibberish characters.

    • Style: Present the card as a flat, direct, 2D graphic facing the camera. Do not show it at an angle, as a 3D mockup, or being held by a hand.
